Theodore A. Wood is the founder and managing partner of Wood IP LLC a veteran-owned intellectual property boutique. He brings extensive expertise in structuring, prosecuting, and defending complex technology portfolios gleaned from his tenure at Pillsbury, Sterne Kessler and the U.S. Government.
Wood regularly leads matters before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, including patent prosecution, inter partes reviews, reexaminations, and appeals before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He serves as outside and virtual in-house counsel to technology companies, designing patent strategies built to withstand post-grant scrutiny and competitive challenge. His work spans artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, communications systems, cryptography, software-driven innovation, and advanced electronics.
Trained as an electrical engineer, Wood understands how technical depth must translate into disciplined claim drafting and enforceable portfolio structure. He evaluates patents not as isolated filings, but as coordinated strategic assets within competitive markets.
Wood focuses on strengthening patent presentation using AI and many years of experience so portfolios are durable, challenge-ready, and well-positioned for licensing leverage and sustained value realization.
